Why The Tower of Babel?
First, I'd like to credit the artist, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, for his work. To my untrained eye, both at age 12, and today, it looks incredible.
The Doylist reason I use The Little Tower of Babel as a profile picture is that I thought it looked cool as a child. It stuck with me, and I started using it as a sort of leitmotif.
The Watsonian reason is that I've always found the story of the Tower of Babel fascinating. I'm aware the moral ought to be a warning against hubris, but I took a rather different lesson.
We were a single people once.
Circumstances forced this to change, but one day, we might again stand united in a common goal and struggle.
As a child, and even now, I find that idea glorious.
